Pope Francis who is currently on a visit to Egypt has said he worries that the rising tensions between the United States and North Korea could lead to a wide military conflict that would wipe out a “large part of humanity.” He called for renewed diplomacy using third-party intermediaries and for the United Nations to take a lead role in de-escalating tensions. He said,  ‘the situation has heated up too much. I always appeal for a solution through diplomatic means. It’s piecemeal but the pieces are getting larger, and are concentrated in places which were already hot. We have received reports concerning a young and vibrant Unilag Student, Ariyibi Ayomide who committed suicide by drinking sniper after she was allegedly set up. Apparently, some belongings belonging to her colleagues in the same hostel where she resides were missing, and then she was fingered…. They searched her bag, only to find the items in her bags.. She was disgraced by other students in the school. Ayomide then called her mum, a staff of the university, who later came to settle the matter.. Her mother paid N2,000, the value of what was found in her bags.. North Korea has test-fired a ballistic missile, according to the South Korean and US military, defying pressure from the US and the North’s main ally, China. US and South Korean officials said Saturday’s test, from an area north of the North Korean capital Pyongyang, appeared to have failed, in what would be a fourth successive unsuccessful missile test since March. US officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the missile was probably a medium-range weapon known as a KN-17 and appeared to have broken up within minutes of taking off. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, has been released from the Kuje Prison in Abuja after meeting the bail conditions granted him by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, says his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor. Ejiofor said his client met all outstanding conditions on Friday and was released shortly after all necessary documents were signed by the trial judge. “Nnamdi Kanu left the prison at about 5pm after meeting the bail conditions,” Ejiofor told PUNCH correspondent on the telephone. Justice Nyako had on Tuesday granted bail to Kanu, who along with three others are being prosecuted on charges bordering on treasonable charges. She said Kanu was granted bail on health grounds. The judge however barred the IPOB leader from granting press interview while on bail.
