Naira drops to 490/$1, 600/£1 owing to ‘bombardment’ from Chad, Benin Aminu Gwadabe, president of the Association of bureau de change operators of Nigeria (ABCON), says the free fall of the naira is due to activities of Nigeria’s immediate neighbours. Over the week, the naira has been on a free fall at the parallel market, moving from 439 per dollar on Monday to 490 to the greenback on Friday morning. The British pound and euro are also currently trading at N600 and N520 respectively. According to Gwadabe, foreigners are mounting pressure on the naira by bringing in their dollar demand to Nigeria, hence, mopping up the dollars in the system. “For the past few days, what we have been witnessing in the market is a kind of spike, a lot of volatility in exchange rate, and this has to do with fear,” Gwadabe told CNBC Africa. “A lot of people are developing fear, and as a result of that, no naira is being kept. A 49-year-old man, yesterday, gave a graphic description of how he had been sleeping with his 15-year-old daughter in their Oko-Oba home in Abule-Egba area of Lagos State. The suspect, Tony Ehumadu, who hails from Mbaise area of Imo State, was caught in the act by his wife, a Customs officer. Godwin Obaseki, the All Progressives Congress (APC) party candidate in the gubernatorial election in Edo State, has won the contest in the two-way race with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winning most of the votes. Six persons were found dead and two unconscious this morning in a hotel known as 50-50 located around Uyo street close to First Bank in Umuahia ,Abia State capital. Abia Facts Newspaper gathered that the hotel is a brothel and the girls living there have had experience of mysterious slaps some weeks back that left one person unconscious. This incident of strange slaps made all the occupant of the brothel to leave, only for the owner to recruit news ladies from other cities. Unfortunately, 3 ladies and their customers are today not alive to tell the story of what happened or what befalled them over night that left them dead.
